First lipo flight today. I am a very happy customer. I went with the rhino 2150 mah battery and a gws 10x6 dd prop. Great thrust and rate of climb. I am guessing a steady 30 degree climb rate stock and well over 50 now. The plane is a lot more enjoyable. I no longer feel the need to climb a little and then level out to gain speed in a stair step matter. Just press the gas and power up to the heavens. Don't hesitate if thinking about going lipo.

the 2150's are great battery's and should last some time. makes the cub alot more fun and exciting.

Am using some Zippy H 2200 mah Li Pos and they are NICE! But are a tad on the heavy side, just got 2 of the Rhino 1750s in the mail yesterday and plan on trying them ASAP. Li Po is the way to go, pour on the coals and the plane will scoot.

Well....my 2 cents. I just got back with my maiden Lipo flight. All I can say is... wow! The flight was a lot more enjoyable with the lipo's. I had no problem at all with most anything I wanted to do. I ain't never goin back. Oh yeah, my home made prop saver worked like a charm too.

I had my maiden LIPO flight today with the Super Cub. I have a Park 450 Outrunner tied to the LIPO and she goes real well. I am using a 11X7 prop with a 2200 mAH TENERGY battery. I have the battery in the traditional horizontal position after modifying the battery box by extending it to allow for the longer length. I have 2 of the Tenergy batts and flew one flight this morning and two this evening for approx. 25 minutes each flight. I never hit the low voltage cut-off, wanted to save any daring dead stick landings for another day I want to experiment with different props to see what I can get but versus the running Park 450 with 8 cell NIMH 1500 Elites the performance upgrade with these Lipos is not as overwhelming as I had expected. I do expect some greater flight times but maybe now it is time to play with some different props and the power curve timing on the BL motor. Now don't get me wrong there most defintely is a boost but I was wondering if it weas going to tear the wings off the plane. Great fun though and glad to get some fresh time under the wing. Wayne

Good show ! Thats a great set-up. The 11 x 7 is alittle steep for that motor, but I'm sure she has lots of thrust ! Just keep the throttle down and you should be ok.
I have the same setup with a 9.5 x 7.5 Trojan prop and get 20 min (bang on) out of a 2200mah lipo 3 cell with some nice scale flying. Maybe 15 if I'm pushing her.
Nice to hear your enjoying it !!

I still am lacking a Watts-Up meter. I know I will get one of these and try some different props and see numbers and make some decisions on facts versus guesses, estimates, conjecture or seat of my pants feel. Wayne

wjcjr1 I fly with a 450 brushless, and like the MAS 10 X 7 prop because it's so durable, gives plenty of scoot to the plane and the air frame shows it. (Am anxious to try an MAS 10 X 6 nitro prop I picked up) Have found, for me that using a 1750 or 1550 mah battery works better than a 2200. Got a sweet little 1300 that fits well and the plane balances very well with, got it with an Art Tech Yak 54 and it looks like the same one that is available as an Art Tech P-51 spare battery. Bottom line I've found is that by going down in mah the battery gets lighter so the plane gets lighter, and flight times are only a tad shorter. For right now I'll just change 1550s a little more often.

Wayne Hi Wayne, I stumbled across this thread www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=949923&highlight=wattmeterI realise that it is unlikely to be as accurate as a proper one, but for the price it'll still give a good indication of current draw of different props, assuming it can take the sort of current that you will be pulling.

I just wrote a book of a post reponse and accidentally hit RESET instead of Spell Check! Anyhow, I just happen to have one of those cheap mutli-meters and may try that idea. I am also going to hit up the RC Forums For Sale/WTB postings. I do like and probably will continue to use the 2200mAH batteries. Biggest reason for doing so is pride I imagine. I spent WAY too much time modifying two battery compartments to become one, cutting foam, reinforcing foam etc. to place the battery box in a postion to mantain optimum COG with the 2200 battery and also preserve the conventional horizontal battery orientation. Patmatgal be careful with the Glow prop. I wrote a response to your glow prop in props, felt it was better placed there. Wayne

HAHA easy. At times it takes a bit for my light bulb to turn on. That's nice. I will try this for sure. As you state maybe not as accurate but a likely good enough ball park figure I would imagine for my non-competition let's just not burn something up purpose. Great stuff, Wayne

Wattmeters (brand name) are seldom for re-sale and tend to keep their value. My buddy asked me to be on the lookout for a decent priced one ($40 or better). Been looking for over 6 months.
Literally the 2nd most useful tool I have after my chargers. Use it ALL the time.
