Would love some video of the flaps doing their job. Maybe a nice slow harrier type landing in some wind...? How do they work for you? I had no luck with mine functioning properly....always wanted to stall and nose in. Keep us informed as to how it goes. Oh and some vid....

First flight with new ailerons/flaps was interesting. Lots of lift from flaps, required lots of down elevator mixing. The winds were kind of funny today so I didn't get a good feel for how it might handle, not to mention the foot of snow on the ground.
I think with a bit of tweeking , she will be a nice to flyer. I know my previous aileron mod was not quite as well executed and she flew awesome ! Keep you posted.

Hi flyer88, Supurb, neat job, they look great. Not got to cut mine yet till I can decide on the hinge. Did you use 3M Blenderm (Dubro hinge tape) tape?
Could you take some real close up pics please (camera on macro) to show the hinge tape, top/bottom/gap, the horns/fixings and the control rod/clevis/servo arm details.
Thanks in advance Seasons Greetings

Thanks for the details and video, I will get going after Xmas.
It looks like you have a bevel on the top and bottom of the aileron but the hinge tape only on the top surface (and into the bevel). Is the tape so strong that it is not needed on the bottom?

The aileron is only beveled back 25 degrees on the bottom, so you get a clean line on the top of the wing where airflow is critical. I hinge the top first, stick the aileron to the tape, then flip the aileron completely over and apply tape across the aileron and wing. Then fold it back, you now have a seamless hinge, top and bottom.

Very Nice flyer!!
I have an off topic question- I noticed on the video that when the sun cam into view- it was blacked out in the middle. Is this a standard video camera thing or some video program mod? Thanks!

I've noticed that on my sony dsc-2, I think that is the camera trying to save itself from getting damaged by direct sunlight. I don't technically know what it's called though.

Nice setup Flyer88 - how much down elevator do you mix with flap? And what size are those Trexlers? I've got 3.5" on mine and 30% down elevator

And another I haven't beveled my flaps, as they are hinged from the bottom - Simple system that works very well. My cub is heavy at 900g. Attachments:

Thanks for the video, I'll be using is as a model if I decide to go the super cub path. I love that idea about just beveling one side to 25degrees.
Are they JUST held on with the hinge tape, or are there plastic hinges in there too?
