Newbie here, flew the SC for the first time today, after a few crashes I got it up about 100+ feet and cruised around for 3-4 minutes at a time and even brought it down for a semi decent landing. Then got it stuck in a tree, Mason line and a few fishing weights is good to throw up into the branches to shake a plane out! Tonight I wrapped the entire top of the wing front to back with packing tape about an inch wrapping around the front and rear edges and the underside length wise across the middle out tho the first stripe. My question is, will the wrinkles in the tape affect the aerodynamics? I did my best to keep it neat but there are some wrinkles especially at the curved ends.

It may affect aerodynamics, by how much and whether you'll notice when flying is a different question. I have a few wrinkles in the tape on my SC similar to what you describe, it flys fine, pilot dependant of course!
Many also recommend taping around the fuse, just in front of the tail, this is a weak point if you do unintentional cartwheels.

nope, that is only a cosmetic thing. wrinkles in tape wont affect the flying capabilities of a rough-cut foam plane

Those guys are TOO generous. It's a known fact that wrinkles are ugly and ugly attracts earth, poles, telephone poles, wires, and trees with a profound pull. Fly it, you'll see.....

i recently covered my wing in red and white tape and did my best to fix the wrinkles but i am a perfectionist and i decided to try using low heat on my heat gun. to my surprise it took all the wrinkles right out! now it looks as if the wing came like that and has a nice glossy finish. be careful though when the wrinkles stop going away DONT keep heating it because it has prolly shrunk all that it is going to and this can melt the foam. as long as you are careful it should work pretty well. hope this helps

One thing to be aware of is that the heating (and hence shrinking) of a covering may cause the wing to warp.

If it did mine would never fly again as it looks like a UPS experiment gone wrong !! ;D

I highly recommend wrapping the wings and fuselage in packing tape. I've had some pretty nasty crashes and have never had a tapped part break. I just wish I could figure out how to strengthen that d**n firewall. Remember that the key to making it work is high quality packing tape, like 3M's High Performance packaging tape. It's more expensive than normal packing tape but it i worth every penny. This stuff is thicker than you normal crappy, Made in China tape. It's crsyatl clear and because it is thicker, you can lay it down with less chance of wrinkles developing. If you're careful you can make it look invisible...besides being shiny.
