I'm changing out the electronics in the cub using GWS ICS480 JR Sport S400 RS6UL Stock Battery
The throttle is running backwards. Full up is off and full down is full power. Did I hook something up wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

does that radio have an option to reverse the thr channel? jr is differnt then futaba/hitec and it needs to be reversed.

amc72 I've got a spektrum DX6, old technology but it works for me. 3 things might help: 1 is the prop on the right way, with the numbers facing forward (a silly move I've done before in my rush to get flying) 2 try reversing the throttle at the radio if possible 3 if all else fails and the motor is brushless you should be able to switch any 2 of the 3 wires running from the motor to the ESC, (polarity doesn't seem to matter) Hope this helps

I had good luck with mine. Still use them in some of my indoor fliers. No problems with them. I also had one in my first cub way back when and it worked flawlessly.
Are you planning to use lipo? If so the ISC480Li is the one you want. It has a lvc built in.

Worse than the stock Cub. www.gwsus.com/english/product/speedcontroller/480.htmICS-480Li - Auto-Cut - 5.4 & 8.1VThe only one that is almost as bad is some of the Great Planes ESC. Terrible. Don't go there unless you fly by time. Just because it makes your prop go around doesn't make it a decent product. Half it's job is poor design. fly

Well I did find the reversing switches for the TX. Only thing is if I change them for the SC I'll have to remember to change them for my other plane. This is where the multi plane memory would come in handy.
For now I'm running the stock brushed motor. I occasionally run a lipo.
Unfortunately the GWS was all they had at the store. I'll go with the Eflight next time. Xmas is coming so who knows.
Thanks for all the replies ;D

Castle makes a brushed esc that is superior to the eflite one.

Unfortunately there is just about NO BRUSHED ESC that has a decent LVC for lipo. I've looked and looked, not even the Castle, and I LIKE Castle. Check out their LVC specs. In fact, check out ANY ESC you are using or buying. It's revealing. Most folks have no real idea how these "black boxes" really work (I barely do). I ran across this one and think it 'may' be better by have no personal experience. I'm just going by specs. www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6468&Product_Name=Eagle_30A_BRUSHED_ESCFWIW very few ESC of ANY sort have what I consider a decent LVC. I do all of my own flying by time. I just think the common 3.0v/cell is too low for modern batteries. It was OK for OLD lipos with low C-rating. The Castles can be programmed to have what ever LVC you want, and most of the time I go for 3.3v/cell. To fly by time, you need a decent volt meter. Fly a safe period, bring her down and check the voltage. Resting voltage WILL be higher than flying/loaded voltage. Do not go below 3.7v/cell resting. People interested in extending the life of their lipos and understanding this better might want to take a look at these discharge graphs. www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41166

I forgot about htat. Good point. I always set my timer to fly. I never hit lvc but it was there in case....? In case I felt like wrecking one aparently....A cc pixie would be a better choice. They are cheap enough too.

I should have been more clear on the Castle ESC. The TBird and Phoenix can be set to just about any LVC (along with auto) you want using the Castle Link software and USB gizmo. Stick programming is more limited.
The brushed (like the Pixie) series cannot. They don't have very good lipo friendly LVC and it cannot be programmed with the CC Link, only by stick.
In a way this makes the simpler mod to straight 3S lipo and pull the ESC jumper on the Cub a not bad alternative if you are OK with the other electronics. It has an LVC of 8.8-8.9v. Not wonderful but kind of in keeping with many and better than some.
So, fly by time. It's a good practice anyway.

I just relooked at them. Not too lipo friendly for sure.

the pixie has worked unbelievable for me...although ive never flown to LVC. i just go by the trusty stopwatch. only problem is that when i went to do these ailerons i opted for the peace of mind that comes with an additional BEC as suggested by some here. i believe the pixie only runs up to 3 servos so if you run a 2-servo aileron mod its an extra $20 in addition to the ESC. i should've just gone brushless earlier as i could have gotten a 4-servo BEC enabled brushless ESC for less than i currently have in the pixie setup. if you do decide to trash the ISC ($14 POS) go with the pixie. best (although not stellar by any means) LVC out there...just dont fly to it

I like this board you post something and people respond. Thanks again for all your input. Maybe I will call the 480 an experiment. I would like to get up for a few minutes to say it worked just not so well and get something better.
Plan B brushless motor motor mount ESC
I may start looking at the motor section
Thanks again
