Has anyone tried the GFORCE E400 or E480 from valuehobby.com? I have the TP 2409-18 and am tired of the bent motor shafts. I am curious if one of these motors would be better or same in the power/speed category, than the TP I have now.

I don't have those particular motors but either should be better. If you cut the TP shaft short and used a collet like those need it would be better too. But, the shafts on TP motors are pretty soft. FWIW they can be replaced by other hardened 3mm shafts. I've even heard of using 3mm carbon but haven't tried it.
Looking at the motor and the specs provided there is no way I believe them. I usually de-rate 20%, those I'd de-rate 30%, maybe more. They'll still have more power probably. The 480 weighs more and will have a lot of power (Current capacity: 38 A/60s). You won't likely bend the 5mm shaft. The 400 (Current capacity: 24.5 A/60s) is more likely close to the TP (Current = 16 amp max). fly

THX, Figured the GFORCE motors would be easier to mount too. I have a couple of the GFORCE lipo's and haven't had any problems, so I'll probably give their motors a try.

Update... Bought the E400..... WOW!!!! What a difference.. much better than the TP. Shaft is holding up better too. I have a 10x5 prop on it...... vertical is no prob! With a 9x6... it goes just a bit faster.. not as good vertical, but still climbs.

The picture shows it as a 2215/09, I suspect it's 2215/20. With the 10x5 prop it's listed as delivering in excess of a Kg of thrust!! gotta remember that the towerpro is HC. its hit and miss with them. the towerpro line is definitely not the best in comparable brushless systems. compared to brands like eflite a TP motor with comparable KV has considerably less power/thrust and draws more amps with less power output
