fly,
as far as the reconditioned thing goes, how reliable do you think they are? most likely they are all the faulty units returned under warranty. i've always been partial to buying new, but for the $38 i should probably just spring for one and then do some comparisons between the cellpro and my turnigy as they would be the same price. im gonna go see if they offer a warranty on the refurbs.

fly You gettin' some kind of kick back on these? Wish I was, I'd probably have like $15 or so ;D I'm one of those apparently odd guys that actually studied the whole lipo battery/charger thing for 6 month before I bought. I thought they were going to be replaced by A123, but that hasn't happened. I've gone through 4 different lipo charger and with my flying buddies we have maybe tried ~10-12. Best one, hands down so far is the 4S for park fliers. I find it odd that so many people spends HOARDS of time fussing about paint, colors and decals and then cheap out on a charger. I see that as decorating your home and putting a tar paper roof on it. Pretty but the fundamentals of the power train are compromised. I just want people to get a good and safe charger. Face it, the Cub is a newbie plane. Many of the members of this forum are at the beginning phase of their education in this sport. When they see 'cheap' they buy. And as a forum buddy of mine said once: [but it might not surprise you to discover that many people who play with RC toys are not "effective readers"] This is a sport where doing your research pays off.

fly, as far as the reconditioned thing goes, how reliable do you think they are? admiral This is from the FMA email I got: [These are factory re-conditioned units, previously returned from customers for various reasons. All problems have been corrected andthese units have undergone the same stringent QC standards as new chargers. They may have a blemish or two, but operationally they are as good as new units and carry the full one year warranty of a new unit.] If there is one thing I think FMA will do is back up their product. I wouldn't recommend this sale if I thought the charger was compromised. The stakes are too high.

Got it all. When the charger & power source arrived I realized I needed an adapter for the balancing tap. Went online right away and ordered one, then checked my e mail and found out they had sent me a $5 coupon from th 1st order. Called the Accounts Manager,Cindy Marks first thing next morning to see if they could apply the coupon to this order and sure enough they did. Now that is some great customer service! Oh, and the Cellpro 4S ;D PS Went out today because I just HAD to drain a battery to try the new charger out. 3 words sum it up: inverted flying, awsome.

You must not have read my rant about balance taps in the Turnigy thread? The whole business really annoys me. I was confused (like most folks I suspect) for weeks. And it's not even necessary-just marketing. It's the battery/charger manufacturers deal, not independents like FMA.
Glad FMA did well by you.

Yeah, read it. It is a pain, this manufacturer has one kind of connector and that marketer has another kind of connector, none of them cross over so everything has to be changed (guess Deans saw that coming) I got caught up in the moment, thought the node connector was the right one, but nooo... (only good for FMA batteries)

Yes. I must've gone brain dead when not ordering a balancing tap but finally got everything and they are all working FINE! Another shout out to FMA for their great customer service, and all the people here who helped me along.

This is the one you wish you would have bought... Jump in, great charger. This is my main charger. I've found no reason to regret this purchase in 2 years. It'll do 1-3C SAFELY.
It ONLY does balancing. You NEED to buy the right battery adapter too. Like most chargers you need a 12v power supply. It will NOT do NiXX. For that get the 4S Multi.

Was at an RC auction yesterday and a friend was real interested in a helicopter that went up for sale, the seller is a customer rep for FMA Direct. We got to talking about the Cellpro 4s and when I asked about their recent sale of 4s chargers he said those were gone in a heart beat (seems that the manufacturer kept making some for another market and FMA was able to get a hold of a limited number, hope some flyers here snagged some) The rep did say they had some good things in the pipeline though.
