I will be receiving my DX6 in a few days and am looking forward to putting this in my Cub. Totally stock so far. I just want the nicer radio that will also work with my CX2 heli.
I plan on other upgrades down the road. Probably LiPo's first then Brushless, then Ailerons/Flaperons (that is another reason for the DX6). My question is this, with eventually going with brushless is there a ESC that will work with the stock battery/Stock motor, then the LiPo/stock motor, and finaly the LiPo and brushless? I really dont want to replace the ESC in a month or 2 when I continue with my upgrades.
Or is this not the best upgrade path?

a brushed esc will not work with a brushless motor and the same goes for the opposite. when you do make the jump to brushless you will need a brushless speed control. it might be easier to go brushless now and save the step later, or just find a cheap brushed lipo safe esc and stay stock for a while.

Keep in mind that when you change out the reciever on the SC in order to use it with the DX6i you will also have to replace the servos and ESC anyways.
The stock servos have one extra wire and the connections won't fit in a standard Spektrum reciever.
I'm with duck... I'de go ahead and change out the ESC and motor to brushless now while you do the other upgrades.

Been searching and searching the forum tonight trying to find a definitive answer for the rest of the upgrades, but everybody seems to go for different options.
Was thinking about starting a new thread but I guess I'll try to save this one.
I guess maybe either people can post what their setups or what setup they would want?
Brushless Motor: Brushless ESC: Servo's: Prop: LiPo Batt: Batt charger:
I would include Tx and Rx, but most of the time they come together and people go with which model and brand they have or want. Myself I picked up a DX6i that came with its own receiver.
EDIT: Forgot to add Prop, so thats in there now.

Hey Glenn - what motor mount is that? Did it come with thrust angle set or did you have to pack it out a little?

Yeah, I didn't even think about going brushless would need a new motor mount. Are these custom made or you can buy them ready to go? Will the regular cowl still fit on top of that?
