Nice collection you got there! How did Dad like his gift? Has he flown it yet? If so how does it fly?

Thanks mrmugen. I'm running out of space to store them without invading other parts of the house. Lucky for my parents I only have 1 more year of college so they can finally kick me out of the house for good ;D
My dad hasn't "flown" the apprentice yet, I think he's working up the courage to do so. He's been taxiing up and down the street and making short bunny hops. Today may be the day though! Its ~50 degrees with 5mph winds. I'll be sure to take out the camera.

Haha thanks guys. No I didn't win anything with horizon. They just happen to make very nice airplanes that I love and are small enough to fit in my wranger . I still have to get the Piper Cub and the Beaver, but at 68 inches across, I doubt I can transport the beaver without taking the wings off. Unfortunately, the Apprentice suffered a bit today. Old man didn't want me to help him on its first flight, so the batt was half charged, wasn't trimmed, and he didn't bring the trainer cord. So I offered to make the first flight to trim it out but he thought his real world flight training would take care of that. -sigh- I wish noobs, whether stubborn family members or not, would just listen. He took off, flew a few circles constantly fighting too much up trim and he finally handed it off to me. I had control for maybe 2 seconds when the apprentice just went into a full nose dive straight down. I frantically moved the sticks around hoping control would return but it never happened. I had this exact same problem with the Pawnee (the post regarding malfunctioning receivers) but it turned out to be a binding elevator servo. The plane crashed nose-first into some thick brush (same bushes you see in the pawnee pic), right between the water and hard earth. The plane came out relatively unscathed except for a deep 3-4 inch gash in the wing. And to top it off, one of the mains on the trojan "fell off" on landing. I'll have to glue it back on later. What a crappy flying day today

Ok guys, after a week of tinkering I've found out the dx5 that was packaged with the apprentice was a dud. I kept losing signal to the plane using the radio. So I binded my dx7 to the apprentice and did two 10 min flights with no problems. Then binded it back to the dx5 and lost signal twice within 2 minutes of it taking off. After landing it, I binded a different dx5 to the apprentice and it flew perfectly fine. I took the radio back to my lhs to get it replaced. It'll be about a week before getting it back.
Anyway, the apprentice flies just like it should - a trainer...It can also fly very slow for its size, surprisingly slow! Slow enough that someone can run under the plane and just grab it from the air. Landing it is a joke...just cut the throttle and keep the nose and wings level. It settles on all three wheels with no bounce. It just floats...floats...floats....and touches down so smoothly.

Those are some nice planes. I like the little Cessna, too bad parts are hard to find.

Got tired of stacking planes on top of each other so I threw this together in under an hour No more hanger rash from bouncing around in the back! (my second hobby - keeping this in tip top shape)

neat idea. i need to make one for my house lol. the problem i have now with getting my plane in the car is that most of my wings are 65"+, they don't fit in my small car. amusing trying to get them in there though. nice jeep, i had a cherokee until some one drove in to me

Shoop de whoop E-Flite PT-19 Pilots from McDonald's happy meals...(gf's suggestion...it has to look "cute") Next up (I think...) will be the Champ from Pilot-1/Hobby-Lobby.

Hi Graves. Super pics. I have been looking at the Eflite Beaver, have you had it in the air yet? What are you powering it with? The Taylor craft is another of my favourite planes. I have all the hardware for one, I really should get one.
