Sorry for your loss. In fact you do need to reinforce all arf firewalls. Get in the habbit of mixing up at least 1/2 ounce of epoxy and hitting all the stress areas. Always beef up firewalls. This is the most stress area and always will be. Esp on nitro or gas planes. Your not the first one to do this for sure. I saw it happen more than once.....one was mine.
Keep building, Kevin

I have had the plane for about 8 months now. It actually didn't even have that many flights on it. The remainder is at Horizon Hobby right now waiting for inspection.

A pal of mine crashed his 27% extra on maiden and they replaced it no questions asked. It was not their fault from where I stood. It was hiis rush rush build job that crashed his plane......not horizon. He got a new one anyway.

Especially on a maiden flight. Personally, I am taking the next couple of weeks off from flying to take apart all my warbirds and reinforcing them. I WILL have another Corsair....warranty or not. I am MORE concerned about this NOT happening again, than them replacing my airplane.

I'm glad companies provide good customer service for defective product, but when people demand replacements for pilot error it raises the cost of the hobby for all of us.
However, if you were flying this corsair within design parameters, with specified motor, etc, and the firewall didn't hold, I would call that manufacturer defect.
Now if you had augered her in without any mechanical fault, that is a different story. Let us know how you fair with Horizon.

That's pretty much how I feel. This is definitely not the first airplane I crash. It is however the first one that gets sent back. Also, everything on all my planes is from Horizon Hobby. From the the Spektrum gear to the Saito.....

Major bummer, Ace Ditto to what Mr M says. Definitely gotta check the glue bonds at critical joints. Bought a Lanier D-VII ARF , when I powered it up on the bench, the motor and firewall took off 10' across the room leaving the plane behind Upon close examination I found hit and miss glue joints (mostly miss). My last ARF by the way, Only balsa full builds for me from now on. fly well, M

Well the whole story is this...he took off and did 2 circuits....then the left aileron started to fluttter and stripped the servo which was what was recommended in the manual.....under power for sure. Then from there it started to rip the wing apart and eventually it landed in a tree with not much left to look at. It was a horrible sound and sight....but I believe it was his fault for not properly securing his hinges. Not 100% about that but about 99.....and some. I saw it premaiden and mentioned it to him...he blew it off. I noticed a small bit of play in the outter hinge...which is what I think caused the flutter. Either way the new plane has been destroyed already. Carma came around and bit him in the butt. He was running his mouth from the time he got to the field and about us crashing and razzing the rest of us.....I crashed my stinger on my maiden due to a radio hit/lock up. Then after some serious razzing he proceeded to get his plane up and went into a wall right off the bat and tried hovering until it stalled weird and started to roll.....long story short this all happened 15 feet up....no more plane.....carma?

Hi Ace. Any update on the Zero? I visited a club last week and got a very warm welcome. So i decided i will be joining for the 1st of January. This will give me the chance to start flying the bigger Warbirds Not decide on what manufacturer yet but I have made up my mind that i will be staying with Lipo. Good times ahead ;D
