Yea, use the custom pack builder, it's great. Yes, now would be a great time to switch to deans connectors. They are much safer and better compared the stock ones. On the charger, if you really plan on staying in the hobby and progressing, get a quality charger. Currently, I'm using a Triton Jr. . So far, no problems. Good Luck! You have caught the addiction ;D

It's a great product-it's a tight fit, but most 8-cells are. It sure would have been nice if they made that #$%$#% box about 1/8" bigger all around.

^^^ true about the tight fit, it will but it take a bit of work to get it in there, i dremled out the edge of mine a bit to help get the wires in.
