I recently upgraded my SC to 11.4v lipos and love the results. I have a DX6i and a spare AR6200 rx and want to convert it so I don't have to deal with 27mhz hassle anymore. I'm going to get a couple of HS-81s since they are the best fit. I really DON'T care about going brushless at this point and would rather not even bother.
My question is what is a good BRUSHED ESC that will be able to handle 3S lipos? Someone recommended the Electrifly 25a ESC...but wondering if it's better to go with the 35a instead for a few more bucks.
Thanks, Mitch

No, no, no on the Elecrifly. Good brushed ESC, TERRIBLE LVC for lipo. Absolute POS on lipo. Complete lipo dinosaur. You only need about 15A, maybe 20A if you want more headroom. More than that is unnecessary if you are staying with the stock motor.
You do know to down prop, right?
I would check them all carefully for LVC. Read the specs. Don't accept ANYTHING lower than 3.0v/cell. The Blue Arrow may be OK. I have a smaller one but no experience with the others mentioned.
That said I'd still suggest you learn to fly by time and bring the bird down before LVC if you value the longevity of your lipo.

fly, thanks for the reply. Yes, I've been flying with careful timing to prevent killing my lipos (have yet to even go below 3.6v per cel). Although LVC isn't my #1 concern with a new ESC, it does seem rather stupid that most brushed ones have it set SOOOOO low. 3.2 or 3.4 would be even better than blue arrow's 3.0 imho. The reason I'm considering the Electrifly is because it's one of only a couple availible locally and I'd like to get the conversion done for a huge electric event on Saturday (dreading the hordes of 27mhz tx in the compound pen).
The only other one I can find at a LHS is the GWS. Cheaper but still a poor LVC (same as Electrifly).
