Wow, flydiver you're right about the JR manual! It's no easy read! I did manage to get the brushless motor in the cub. I hooked it all up tonight into the JR rs6ul receiver. The second I plug in my 3s Lipo the servo's flutter a bit sporadically. The prop will even turn as the motor kicks on and off. This is all with the TX OFF. It's as if the plane is possessed. Yet when I flick the TX ON all is well and everything responds to the sticks properly with no twitching or ghostly funkiness. Is this standard fair with "real" radios? The stock Cub never did this. I could plug in the battery with the TX off and it would do nothing.

Yes, that's how a 'real' radio will work. Always turn on TX first, then plug in battery. When finished, unplug battery, then turn off TX. Make this your standard way of arming the system. You're a big boy now! The PZ stuff will sit there quietly with no TX input, but 72mHz is looking for a signal when plugged in. If it doesn't get one it goes nuts. Teaches you bad habits. New fliers brought up on PZ/HZ have to be taught this. Read my post about field protocol if you haven't already. It's important if you fly with other people. supercubclub.proboards78.com/index.cgi?board=crash&action=display&thread=1419&page=1fly

10-4! Thanks again Flydiver! I'll read your protocol post tomorrow AM. It's 12:10 PM here now and I can hear THE WARDEN upstairs signaling dismay!
Another thing that frazzled me is on my JR the throttle/rudder are on the left stick, and airlon, elevator on the right stick. My Cub TX had rudder/elevator on right stick and the notorious throttle slider on left. It floors me that as awesome of a trainer the cub is they don't use a TX with 2 sticks. Now I basically have to steer with the left stick since I have no airlons when I've been steering with the right on the stock cub. So I have to re-learn the "Real Way." Oh well. Learning is fun! (Until you auger in!)

Plug the rudder servo in to the aileron plug on RX and the rudder will be on right stick

Yes, think of the R stick as 'turning'. Currently rudder is primary (only turning control) so rudder goes there. When you get ailerons then it goes R stick and rudder goes on the L stick.
You'll have even more fun when you get to elevons and V-tail. My first foray there took longer than the actual plane conversion.
Don't know if this is true of all TX or just JR-I suspect all. A lot of it is getting to know the terms and the new gadgets. I know the Spectrum DX7 is just a spectrumized JR6102.
