WOW! What an amazing plane! My dad was in the Coast Guard and I showed it to him - he loved it. Absolutley sweet!
Did you use the Krylon right on the foam?

Ellis, can you give me a complete run over of the paint you used and your approach? I am looking to repainting my cub but I am worried about meling the foam. Thanks!

Ellis, can you give me a complete run over of the paint you used and your approach? I am looking to repainting my cub but I am worried about meling the foam. Thanks! Very cool about your Dad. We live on the coast and have a very active USCG station. With the fishing fleet and tourists they stay busy. Also have low fly-bys of the chopper twice a day. I used Miller latex primer (house paint) first. Then I sprayed Krylon H2O over that - lots of runs, drips and splatters with that stuff. I also used Krylon Fusion on the cowel. The primer didn't stick as well as it did on my test piece - I don't know why. That's something I'll fix next time - maybe the SC has a residue on it that can be cleaned. Good luck and show us some pick when you're done. Ellis

i'm just too afraid to paint mine...i scooped up some acrylic stuff at walmart (like tempra paint) that i was going to roll on (looks good on test foam) and i got a can of black fusion too (wanted to see how it works, was gonna use on the cowl anyways) but it melted the foam when I was testing it
i dont know what to think anymore...ugh!

If it's water based you should be fine. I'd suggest several light coats that will dry faster than a heavy coat. Whats the worst that could happen...lol.

Great idea for the windows. I never thought of that. I'll have to give it a shot. I used paint Shop pro to make the graphics for my plane. This is an excellent way to replace or save a litttle on the windows. I love the plane. I'm currently in the Coast Guard.
