I'm in the middle of completing my BL mod. Your plywood mount is kinda what I was thinking about. Could you give me some pointers: Specifically, how did you set up the thrust angle? How and where did you mount the esc and battery? I assume you're using lipos?
Thanks, Tim

to keep the thrust angle correct i used the stock gearbox and cut off the prop shaft. also another nice thing is that if you find you need more angle you can just change the length of the spacers between the plywood and get more or less thrust angle.
like i said in the OP, if you mount the motor to close to the firewall you will push your COG way back, i tried to keep the prop about the same distance away from the fire wall this time, that was i only needed about .5 oz to get it to balance right.
i normally run 2200mah 3s lipos, i still stick them in the battery box but as far froward as i can. also i mounted the esc to the motor mount to help keep it cool, that little motor will pull about 280 watts lol.
only thing i noticed is that the aluminum tub is taking a beating and starting to deform, so you might want to use something better for the spacers. but there has been a few mid airs, rough landings and what not so as long as you don't try to dog fight your cub against war birds you should be ok lol.
if you have any other questions feel free to ask

i think it is, i was looking for a stronger prop back when i was still learning. they were stronger but no were as efficent as the APC E props, just use them for mock up now. right now i am using a 10x7 apc e, 10x5 apc e, or a 9x9 for fun lol. got 52mph out of her on the 9x9, still got to try the 9x7 with the gps.
