Hi keya, i have a set of "Dubro" skis for my cub. You just have to make a shim out of brass tube and they fit right on. I think i paid about 10 bucks for them. Or you can do what i did and cut a set out of a plastic bottle, glue a wood mounting block on and bolt them on, they worked great untill i found the storebought ones.

Hello all - new to the SC club here.
I just made a pair of skis for my SC using 3mm marine mahogany plywood. I soaked the wood in water for 10 minutes then bent up the tips using a hot 3/4 inch coper pipe with the tip of a torch placed inside the other end. Then glued on a small block with a hole drilled for the axle. They are very light; probably weight no more than a 2.5 inch foam wheel. I can post pics is anyone is interested.

OK - here goes nothing... As I mentioned above, the skis are made from 3mm marine mahogany plywood. I cut out 2inch x 8 inch rectangles first, then bent the tips as described above. Then trimmed to a rounded tip and cut to final length of 7 inches. Afterwords I coated with epoxy that will later be sanded smooth for a nice paintable surface. Here's the unpainted final result: I ran a second strip half inch wide down the middle Skis installed They are balanced so that the tips are slightly up. I need to get some of those springs (or make some) to hold the tips up in flight, but not allow them to rise all the way up. Now all I need is some snow...

christ! that looks awesome, now you just need to make the rest of the cub wood to match...

av8tor. They look brilliant. There's no way i would paint them. That Mahogany and varnish give the Cub a touch of class. Your ski's deserve there own thread and title. BTW. Would you be so kind. :)When in photobucket. If you click on edit above the image you will then be able to resize your photos to 640x480. This will keep your pics within the page on this forum and will help the users that are on dial-up. Cheers Paul

Thanks... they're quite simple actually and only took about an hour to make. I'd be happy to provide additional specifics if anyone likes.
Yea, sorry about the photo size - I thought I had made them small enough.

Great looking ski's! I agree..Don't paint them. They look great like they are. I would love to make some of those but it doesn't snow here. Too bad cause they look like a lot of fun.

Very nice indeed. I also agree with the others that they're too nice to paint. Be sure to give us a flight report as soon as you get some snow.
