Spoke with horizon hobby Saturday morning. The tech walked me through some tests and we concluded the transmitter was bad. We did this by plugging the rudder servo into the throttle plug. The servo was powered up all the time. The DX5e is a new radio. The tech said he has heard of radios having bad throttle actuators out of the box. They are sending a new radio. My brother in law asked me if I wanted to use his DX6e. I forgot he had the radio. He uses it for his helicopters. Bound it to my plane and flew this morning. Had a blast! Customer service has been very good they have made the best of a tough situation.

I've heard of DX5e problems, nasty ones. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Je764AvkRlQ&feature=player_embeddedThankfully they seem to be rare, but any electronic component can be a problem. I had a buddy with a Futaba that the output signal was garbage. He was new so at first thought the crashes were his fault. Then he thought it was the RX. It took some problem solving to figure out it was a bad TX. Usually the problem is the nut behind the sticks, then the RX, the TX is usually the last thing to get scrutinized. (This is ignoring the super-cheap RTF Chinese ones). Anyway, the DX5e is pretty limited and is a 1 plane, 1 trick TX. You'll get a better one sometime.....soon probably. In the meantime you have a spare SAFE unit? Whoopee!
