Hello, I am excited about this new forum... I am relatively new to the cub and have numberous questions. Regarding batteries, I initially flew with cub with the stock battery with very little success. The wind in this area constant at 12-15 mph. However, after upgrading to the 8 cell the cub is able fight the wind all easier. I actually build the 8 cell out of the 7 cell batteries and purchased another 8 cell from LHS. Before I shrink ed the 8 cell I solder a 9 cell and bench tested it and wow... Currently, I am looking for a good deal on batteries instead of purchasing the 1000 mAh 9 cell from LHS for 30 dollars. I am also undecided on my charger purchase. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I see that BigTone has the same questions regarding batteries as I do. I currently and looking at the Accu-Cycle charger. Often I have 2-3 batteries to charge and must do them one at a time and it can take all day with the wall charger. I would also like to be able to charge 9 cell batteries also. Some of the choices I have been considering are the PKA1519 the one with the P51, Accu-cycle by hobbico, Inteapeak ICE, and the Triton Jr. I am leaning toward the Accu-cycle because of the ability to charge two cells at once. It also has both AC and DC input so you can use it in the field and at home. For example its 8:00 and their is no wind both the baby and my wife are sleeping and I forgot to charge my batteries last night. Perfect time to run to the field for a fly. And I sitting here waiting for that slow wall charger to peak the batteries.
I would like some suggestions for charger and batteries. Their are not very many sites that have the 2/3a 11 or 1200's. If anyone has purchased 2/3s and build their own I would like to here about your experience.

hey tele: Be careful using more than an 8-cell with the stock ESC. Until I upgraded,I was using the PKZ1027 9-cell from my Fw-180,and it was cool for about 5-6 flights, then I started getting motor cutout that got progressively worse!

(I see that BigTone has the same questions regarding batteries as I do.) What are you talking about, tele1974? Those were post notes taken from 8/20/06. I sent you a link to the pkz1519 on ebay that was vary cheap. I have two of them and charge my batteries as I fly. This is the fastest cheapest charger that can help you with the problem you asked about on RCU. Accu-cycle is a good choice because, it can handle 1-10 NiCd or NiMH and 1-3 LiPo or Li-Ion. It can keep up with you as you grow with the hobby. pkz1519 cgi.ebay.com/Parkzone-DC-Peak-Battery-Charger-1-8-Amp-PKZ1519_W0QQitemZ160069414271QQihZ006QQcategoryZ34056QQrI see that BigTone has the same questions regarding batteries as I do. I've purchased the IB1400 cells from cheapbatterypacks.com for my SC. They are great. They have 1500 cells now. They are relatively cheap and will custom make it to fit the SC and use the connector you now have (I've switched to dean's, only way to go!).

However, motor cut out began and continued to get worse to the point it was unsafe to fly. This pack is a great find, its the same price as the parkzone but delivers 1100 instead of 1000.

Just picked up a couple 8-cells (CBP-1150) from cheapbatterypacks.com/ . They are noticeably better than anything else I have including stock. I have a couple 7-cells from batteryspace.com. They work, were pretty cheap ($22 for 2) but I'd say they are just a smidgen less powerful than stock. (Like the Powerizer above but 7-cell). For dirt cheap you can get these ($6.31): www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=A1110076&pid=U872714They work fine but need to sit on edge with the battery hatch rubber banded down. flydiver
